So How is NutraSilver® Different?

Most products labeled and sold as colloidal silver are, unfortunately, ionic silver. This is because it is so much easier and less costly to produce this type of silver product. Among misrepresented colloidal silver facts, this is perhaps the most common.

Ionic silver products are made up of silver ions and sometimes silver particles. Using electrolysis, the manufacturer produces silver ions. Silver ions are really dissolved silver. Because most of the silver (about 90%) in ionic silver products is dissolved silver instead of silver particles, these are really solutions of silver.

These products are frequently advertised as containing silver ions that are small silver particles. That is confusing, however, since silver ions are different from silver particles.

Silver ions combine with chloride ions to form silver chloride, but silver particles do not. This combination of silver ions and the chloride in your stomach creates a silver compound that may lead to Argyria.

Some manufacturers hide the identity of their ionic silver behind terms such as monatomic silver and silver hydrosol. These names are used to hide the truth from you. You are getting an ionic silver solution, not colloidal silver.  If the product is clear, like water with sugar dissolved in it, it is ionic silver, NOT colloidal silver. True Colloidal silver, like NutraSilver®, has a dark yellow color because there are REAL SILVER PARTICLES in it.. This is a colloidal silver fact.

The ideal color of colloidal silver is a golden yellow. If your body is extremely ill or toxic, do not be in a hurry to clear up everything at once. If pathogens can be killed off too quickly, the body’s five eliminatory channels (liver, kidneys, skin, lymph system, lungs and bowel) may be temporarily overloaded, causing flu-like conditions, headache, extreme fatigue, dizziness, nausea or aching muscles. Modern, commercially manufactured silver contains NO silver nitrates, silver phosphates, silver chlorides or silver compounds, a requirement to get Argyria. A Reference Dose (RfD) of 0.005 mg/kg/day for sub-chronic and chronic exposure was calculated from a lowest-observed-adverse-effect level ( LOAEL) of 0.014 mg/kg/day for argyria observed in patients receiving i.v. injections of silver arsphenamine (U.S. EPA, 1992a,b). Data are presently insufficient to derive a Reference Concentration (RfC) for silver (U.S. EPA, 1992a).

According to the EPA, “in rats and mice, the cumulative recovery of silver in the feces was 98-99% on the second day after oral exposure to silver; monkeys excreted 94% (U.S. EPA, 1985). Dogs excreted approximately 90% of an inhaled dose of metallic silver particles in the feces within 30 days of exposure (Phalen and Morrow, 1973). The estimated fatal dose of silver nitrate is 10 g, but recoveries have been reported following ingestion of larger doses (U.S. EPA, 1985). Argyria (see Section 3.1.3.1.) has been observed in individuals that have ingested both metallic silver and silver compounds in small doses over periods of months to years ( ATSDR, 1990).”
